It’s no secret that fastest way to get to where you want to be is to walk alongside someone who’s been there before. So you probably don’t need a business coach to tell you why you need a mastermind (but I’m going to anyway). Over 60% of entrepreneurs have reported feeling lonely and isolated while building their businesses – and joining a mastermind group is a great way to create a community fueled by mentorship and the genuine desire to help and support others on a similar journey. In this episode, I’ll share my thoughts on mentoring and mastermind groups as key ingredients in the success of your coaching or consulting business.

Carolin Soldo – Mastermind Groups – Why You Need a Mastermind

Hi there coach, it’s Carolin here, and in this video I want to talk to you about the power of masterminds and why you should be joining a mastermind for your business. Have you ever felt alone in your business? Have you ever felt like nobody really understands you, nobody gets you, and there’s nobody to talk to and ask for help or support? Well, if that’s you, then a mastermind is exactly what you need because that’s a community of people that are there to have your back and support you with your big goals. Being in the proximity of people who have high inspirations, big goals and know exactly what you’ve gone through is what you need to get ahead. From experience, I can tell you that being part of masterminds has been a key to my own success. From the start, I always was with people who had big goals and big dreams and different locations and situations and they were always there to support me when I needed help, and I was also able to support them and give back and make lifelong friendships.

So I want to talk to you about how you can find a mastermind, maybe even create your own, and really get the most out of them to succeed beyond your wildest dreams. Let’s start by talking a little bit about what a mastermind actually is. Ideally, you want to have about 20 people in a mastermind and not more, because that means that you can really get to know every single person in the group and everybody gets a good chunk of time and it’s a really intimate situation and a really intimate setting. In your mastermind, you also want to look at people that are coming from all types of different backgrounds and perspectives so that you get a variety of ideas, a variety of feedback and input. But you want to make sure that those people are from the same industry, ideally so they know what you’re going through.

They know the key problems in your situation and your business and they also know how to fix those things and help you step through them. Being part of a mastermind gives you a true competitive advantage because the brain power of a collective or group of people is so much greater than the brain power of just one person. You also get the benefit of strategic input. People in your mastermind will know the solutions to your problems. They also give you emotional support when you’re not feeling so hot, and they also give you inspirational support because in the mastermind, you will be inspired to set goals that are so much greater than you would ever set those on your own. And now I’d love to hear from you. Are you in a mastermind right now and you’re really enjoying it? Maybe you’re looking to join a mastermind and you’re looking for people who are likeminded.

If so, let me know below in the comments and let’s have a conversation about your mastermind experience. If you’re thinking about joining a mastermind right now, there are different ways for you to really get engaged. You could start your own mastermind. I know a lot of people who have small, intimate groups of likeminded people around them and that’s their mastermind, so you can think about people you know in the industry. Maybe they’re your friends, maybe they’re business partners, maybe they’re colleagues that you want to invite into your own mastermind. If you’re new in the industry and you don’t know anyone, that’s fine too. You could actually ask to be invited into a mastermind. There might be groups out there of people where you can say, Hey, do you have a mastermind? Do you want to actually have me join that group? I would love to add value. I would love to see how I can support the group and add value and benefit to your community.

The last thing you could do is actually buy your way into a mastermind and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. And the results we’ve seen from our masterminds are incredible. Our clients are collaborating, they’re supporting each other, they’re asking questions and they’re giving back, which ultimately leads to a collective rising and great, amazing results for our clients. So if you’re looking to join a mastermind, don’t be shy to purchase a program, buy your way into a mastermind, get to know some people, and then maybe later you can ask these people to join a separate mastermind and build your own little community of people that have your back.

Now if you’re convinced and you know you want to join a mastermind, let’s talk about how you can get the most out of it. The first thing you want to do when you join a mastermind is help people. Figure out ways in which you can actually add value, answer questions, and offer support, and get to know your mastermind members that you know how you can show up as somebody who wants to contribute, help and support. The second thing you should do is think about what your goals are. What do you really want to get out of the mastermind? Because when that’s clear to you, you can actually go forward and get the support you need right away. And then lastly, you should be visible and participate consistently. There’s so many people who join groups and masterminds and then what? They don’t show up, they don’t come to meetings, they don’t ask questions, they’re not visible. And that’s the last thing you want to do in a mastermind. So go to your meetings, ask questions, contribute, speak up and become a valued member of that mastermind, and that’s where you’re going to get the most of this community right away.
