I love celebrating life with my family. We were recently in the Dominican Republic and my business kept rolling as usual because I designed a schedule that fully supports my laptop lifestyle!

You may look at me and say that I’m always traveling because I’ve reached a certain level in my business.

Yes, you’re right.

In some ways running a 7-figure coaching business provides me with more resources and tools to craft my laptop lifestyle. (But trust me, I’ve been in your shoes and I know what it’s like to be in a place of working to reach the top.)

When I left my corporate job, I was on a mission for more Purpose, Freedom, and Abundance. At the beginning of my journey, it seemed as though these things were mutually exclusive. I felt full of purpose and experienced immediate financial growth. But FREEDOM and my beloved LAPTOP LIFESTYLE seemed nowhere in sight.

I knew I had to make a change and set out to never let freedom escape me again. I went from being chained to my desk with an ultra-packed schedule to days that look something like this…

I’ve built my coaching business in such a way that I serve my clients primarily in a 1:many model rather than 1:1. This has lightened my time commitments immensely. Sure, some weeks I batch schedule 1:1 sales calls when I’m accepting new clients, but even those are filtered by my assistant and sales team.

The rest of my time is spent working ON my business (rather than IN it). Basically, I’m focused on income-generating activities while my team handles the rest.

The remainder of my schedule allows for my family time and ME time! These are the weeks where I don’t schedule in clients and skip team meetings so I can free myself up for travel, have a staycation, or focus on personal priorities outside of my business.

In fact, I’ve recently traveled to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic in the span of a few short months.

I know it may sound like a lot, but it’s totally doable if you know how to set yourself up for SUCCESS. Because I’ve designed a schedule that works like a well-oiled machine, it’s easy to plan around. I ALWAYS have a way to operate my business. From online business apps to email, I can stay in touch with my team.

And, traveling has no effect on my client relationships because they know and celebrate that I travel frequently. They aspire to do the same — my FREEDOM and LAPTOP LIFESTYLE is one of the things that attracted them to me in the first place. The men and women that work with me crave more freedom and they’re motivated to see it happen for their lives.

The truth is, I really believe that EVERYTHING is possible if you want it.

How I scheduled my way to a vacation in the Dominican Republic:

Here are the 4 simple steps you can use to design your laptop lifestyle schedule:

1. KNOW WHAT’S IMPORTANT

How important are your workouts? Your massages? Hanging out with your friends? Going to the playground with your kids? A lavish date night with your partner?

They are just as important than perfecting your opt in page and getting one more sales call in. Know what your priorities are and take a stand for them.

2. MAKE SPACE + SET BOUNDARIES

Are you working reactively packing your calendar with 1:1 client meetings, answering emails as soon as you receive them, and taking sales calls on a whim? Scheduling like this is unpredictable and it leaves you no time for your personal life or to work on your business. You have to make space for your priorities and set proper boundaries so you can take your schedule from reactionary to proactive and enjoy more time freedom.

3. DELEGATE TO A SUPPORT TEAM

The “hustling” mentality teaches you to work hard and wear every hat in your business. I get that when you’re just starting out, you may have to take on more tasks than you desire. It happens to the best of us — me included. But, not anymore. In 2016, I chose to hire a team of A-Players who not only support me but also support my clients. The result? Better client results, more time for me, a 5x increase in income and more fun in my business.

4. AUTOMATE

No matter if you’re a newbie, think about how to automate right from the start. Manual marketing is a painful process that not only wastes precious time but also invaluable emotional energy. Once you install an automated sales funnel that generates consistent discovery calls for your business, you have the freedom to travel the world, shut off social media, and simply take calls while lounging on the beach! (Or better yet, have your Sales Team take the calls and make money without lifting a finger!)
